Mechanics

This is an animation of what I see as a what you are trying to achieve when you are playing with each flower. It’s a transplantation of the complete open and closure of the flowers.

I’m imagining you can touch and activate (by piezo touch sensors) each flower. Maybe I’m integrating a speaker so that this interaction generates a sound and some movement connected. By completing this type of game you can activate the whole structure, which is what this animation is showing.

Let’s see.. There will be a diagram on this soon.

This animation took my poor laptop 14 hours to render. I sketched, watched ”På Spåret” (classic swedish TV)  and had a good sleep in while it was working.

This is the built piece of the flower. An animation from 3dMax is coming soon.

This movie belongs to an experiment on motion that I did. A platform with a motor attached, all in snap-fit plexiglass. Good basis. Then it’s all playing around.

See this great source of inspiration Arthur Ganson. Master in shaping motion I would say.   I’m not really there yet.. Very beautiful. See lots of his work on youtube!

Sound experiments is off for the moment. I´m simply tired of noise.

Latest is a quick mechanic sketch with some sticks and a spring. The idea is to press at one small point and get a quite big impact. I´ve made some copies in plexiglass to see what comes out of repitition.

Interesting what is recomended to me when I log into my Youtube-account. Today some Marble-machine-movie was, and I clicked it, and watched another one and another, and another… There seems to be a whole comunity of people making these! And they are quite interesting both mechanicly and the sequences and sounds they are creating with them.

Imagine the balls triggering small switches controlling another machine. Through seeing the ball moving down, then to be lifted up and the sequence repeated all over is a great visualisation of a programming loop.

Two great examples!
